IOS
The International Standard Organization (ISO) is a voluntary organization that gets together to create international safety standards. Established in 1946, these delegates work together to facilitate the unification of industrial standards. As of 2012, the ISO has 206 countries represented and over 19 000 standards created and maintained.
The International Standard Organization covers most sectors of technology and business, with the main areas of their standards addressing safety in engineering technologies (27%) and materials technologies (23%). The ISO’s headquarters are in located in Geneva, Switzerland and employ approximately 150 employees that work to keep up to date with any developments that may require the board to reconsider their stance on various standards.
